Samsung displays notched screens that will be used on Galaxy smartphones of 2019
2019 promises to be a great year for Samsung; in addition to launching a fully repaginated Galaxy S10 with virtually no borders and biometrics on the screen, the manufacturer is expected to start sales of its folding smartphone displayed as a prototype this week and should also adopt three different slot formats across all smartphone lines.
The company revealed in the keynote on November 7, last Wednesday, how the displays of its major handsets will be next year, and despite the manufacturer surrendering to the notch, we will not have copies of the iPhone 's notch wide.
The new Infinity screens revealed are evolutions of what was presented in 2017 with the Galaxy S8 . We do not know if all of them will adhere to the extremely thin edges at the top and bottom, but one thing is certain: as leaks have already secured, Samsung plans to launch in 2019.
Infinity-U
As well as already becoming a strong trend in the Eastern market and will spread more and more around the world, Samsung already owns its own brand for what we call drop notch ; the Infinity-U screen features a small "u" -shaped slot (hence the name, obviously) to accommodate the front camera and sensors.
Intermediate brand smartphones should take advantage of this notch form by 2019.
Infinity-V
The Infinity-V works the same way as the U, but instead of a more circular design, it has a shape of hard, straight corners, forming a V at the bottom. This format should also be taken advantage of by Samsung for the intermediate smartphones of the brand.
Infinity-O
Infinity-O is, so far, the main screen that should be released for the Galaxy S10, or at least one of three models to be announced in the first quarter of next year.
The notch shape is circular and is located in the upper left corner of the display. Samsung has only shown this location, so we have no idea if the company plans to release it also invariants in the center of the screen or on the opposite end.
New Infinity
And finally, we have the New Infinity, a completely unlined and borderless format, where the entire display should occupy the front panel and makes the existence of what Samsung aims to be the perfect "Galaxy" even closer. The camera and proximity sensors would be underneath the screen and would be displayed only when needed, with only a portion of the OLED panel becoming transparent to allow the camera to capture photos and videos.
Being so much more exclusive, we may see New Infinity only on high-performance smartphones like the Galaxy S10 Plus or the Galaxy Note 10.
