Mazda announces promised CarPlay support on older models

When automotive companies adapt their dashboards to enter Apple's CarPlay or Google's Android Auto, it's hard to see them investing to fit their old models. Therefore, it is important to credit Mazda for the initiative, as it has announced a retrofit option (adapting old appliances to newer technologies) for some of its models.
Although the Mazda-CarPlay partnership started in 2015, it was only this year that the option became available on new cars, beginning with the Mazda6 and following it the 2019 CX-9 and CX-5 models. At the time, they also promised to make the option available for older models and says it is now available.
The Android application was the first of the two to gain compatibility with Waze, with CarPlay running behind and achieving the same two months ago in September.

Vehicles from 2014 onwards are available for retrofit as long as they have a Mazda Connect infotainment panel equipped as it is where the update takes place for CarPlay to be installed. Despite being basically an upgrade to Connect, the client also takes USB ports that load devices faster.
To install the update, just go to a Mazda dealer and order the service, which currently costs $ 200 (approximately R $ 750 without fees). If your vehicle is not yet compatible, you can look for alternatives in the stand-alone aftermarket.
