Sony starts to release Android 9 Pie for Xperia XZ Premium and Xperia XZ1 line
Sony had already stated in October that the company decided to anticipate the arrival of the latest version of Android to some of its smartphones. There were three lucky models: the Xperia XZ Premium, Xperia XZ1, and the Xperia XZ1 Compact. At the time the Japanese had not confirmed dates, but now we already know that the update is being released at this very moment.
As of this Saturday, November 10, the company begins to release the update for the models cited. Initially, availability will vary by country, region, and models, but Brazil is included in the update and should arrive in the next few weeks on domestic appliances.
The update has build number 47.2.A.0.306 and also comes with the Android security patch for the month of October, which has already been released for such models.
Among the new features of the new software, in addition to the latest version of Google's operating system and the visual changes implemented in Android 9 Pie are new camera features for the XZ and XZ1 line: the update will bring the models a completely redesigned interface (as in photo above), as well as Full HD resolution for super slow motion video at 960 fps.
However, one of the main novelties of Android 9 will be out: the gesture interface. It is not yet explained why Sony decided to remove the function of its smartphones, but we expect the company to go back and launch an update in the coming months with the news.
As said, in Brazil the update can arrive in the coming weeks. We will keep an eye on any new updates on national models.
