Samsung switches interface name to One UI with update for Android Pie
During SDC 2018, a developer conference hosted by Samsung on Wednesday, 7, in addition to announcing the opening of the Bixby code for third parties, the South Korean company showed the changes of its interface for smartphones. The Samsung Experience will now be called One UI, focusing on productivity and simplicity.
In a way, there will be fewer modifications in this new version of the Samsung interface. Functions that facilitate usability, such as bringing menus to the bottom, have been retained. The idea is to let the use of higher-level devices - with screens 18: 9 and the like - more comfortable, with the main controls at hand.
The motto of the new One UI is "focus on the task at hand". The interface will be much cleaner, besides regrouping a lot of adjustments to offer a page of simpler configurations.
For example, in the gallery. When you open the sharing options, instead of pop up open in the middle of the screen, it will be shown on the bottom, much easier to reach with the hand that is holding the device. The top of the screen is reserved for displaying information that the user does not interact with.
Another novelty is that the interface colors may vary depending on the color of your device. A red device will have reddish elements on the screen, while a blue smartphone will have elements with shades of blue.
The dark mode is also confirmed.
Open Beta
The beta program will be released in November for users of the Galaxy S9, S9 Plus and Note 9 models from South Korea, the United States, and Germany. Other countries should also be considered in the future.
These three models are expected to receive the final update of Android 9 Pie with One UI in January 2019.
