Exynos 9820 is compared with predecessor showing the size of evolution

Today, Samsung officiated its new high-end processor for the mobile device market, the Exynos 9820. Many, after seeing the many new features of the chipset, were curious to see the size of the changes made by the South Korean giant. The chip has as main highlights, for example, a neural processing unit, as well as support for recording videos in 8K resolution.

The Exynos 9810 was not much praised at its launch. Some believed that the Samsung Exynos M3 architecture had flaws that resulted in poor performance, if inferior to the model with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845. In addition, he allegedly relinquished that power to ensure improved energy efficiency.

The Exynos 9820 uses a 2-2-4 architecture, where two M4 cores are high performance, coupled with two Cortex-A75 medium-power and four Cortex-A55 cores focused on power management. It integrates the Mali-G76 MP12, which brings 40% more graphics capacity compared to the Mali-G72 MP18 Exynos 9810, with a 35% lower power consumption.
Recalling that the Exynos 9820 is based on the Samsung 8nm LPP process. In addition, the integrated NPU (Neural Network Unit), responsible for all artificial intelligence operations, with the computing power of this type 7 times higher than that of the Exynos 9810. Finally, it is believed that the Galaxy S10 is the first to have this chip shipped, at least in one of its variants, since the other must incorporate a Snapdragon 8150.
