Apple clashes with iPhone X case that exploded after upgrade to iOS 12.1

Explosions on smartphones are not so rare to happen - Samsung says so when it had to make a global recall of Note 7 after numerous reports of overheating.
But when they happen in the Apple smartphone universe, they get even more attention because of the strong public loyalty.
The most recent case involved an upgraded iPhone X for the newly released iOS 12.1, and even left Apple itself shocked by the fact.
After an account of an American user who revealed the explosion on his iPhone X after the device began to overheat by installing the update, Apple replied:

This is definitely not expected iPhone X behavior.
The owner of the notebook posted images of the damaged device in his Twitter profile, and @AppleSupport's response can be seen below:
According to the report, the affected model had only 10 months of use and began to release smoke until eventually, it exploded. According to the owner:

This year, in early January, I bought the iPhone and used it normally. A dark gray smoke began to come from the apparatus; the update was completed and as soon as the phone started it started catching fire.
The device owner ensures that the accessories used at the time of the incident (cable and charger) were original - even so, the explosion actually happened after removing the device from the power outlet.
When holding his iPhone, he noticed that the body of the device was very hot, and shortly after, the smoke began to leave. At this point, he awaits a positioning of Apple, who asked that the iPhone be sent for analysis.
