THANKS TO CHROME 70 ... SOME WEBSITES CAN HAVE BIG PROBLEMS

Recently, we can observe increased Google activity around the Chrome browser. At Mountain View, someone went to their senses and made a decision to make this important tool even safer. However, patches can lead to a situation where some websites may have problems working properly in Chrome.

Google will increase the level of work safety with the Chrome browser in the next version (Chrome 70). These actions, however, can have consequences for websites that some users use on a daily basis. A security researcher - Scott Helme - discovered that many websites use the old Symantec HTTPS certificates from before June 2016. These sites may have a lot of problems displaying in the Chrome 70 browser, making its debut on October 16. They will belong to the group of untrusted ones.

Some of these websites are currently undergoing the process of implementing new certificates. Those that have not managed to change them on time will normally work, but in their case a warning will be displayed  , which can be annoying for users and can discourage people who are sensitive to the security of their data in the network.

Google actions may seem radical. It is worth mentioning, however, that the Mountain View concern had a year ago warned website administrators about the fact that some Symantec certificates may be outdated. So they had a lot of time to deal with the solution to this problem. Let's hope that most of them will catch up soon.
