Samsung Galaxy S10: equipped with a new coprocessor dedicated to artificial intelligence?
Rumors are already appearing on social networks about the Galaxy S10. One of them evokes its chipset, which could be equipped with a coprocessor dedicated to artificial intelligence, as in the A12 Bionic Apple.
Even if in some areas Samsung is a company that has proven its ability to innovate (in the field of flash storage or OLED screens, for example), the Korean firm has also often been accused of following market trends. When Apple presented a phablet with its annual iPhone, the firm did not hesitate to replicate with a "Plus" version of its Galaxy S. When Apple introduced Apple Pay, the Korean firm reacted with Samsung Pay by buying LoopPay. Apple is not the only source of inspiration, but it is certainly the most obvious.
Inspired by the competition
For 2019, replacements for the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 + should also follow certain trends from the competition. We have mentioned in our columns that the Galaxy S10 should be three in the next year, like the iPhone in September. These three models would benefit from Infinity Display screens of different sizes: 5.8 inches, 6.1 inches and 6.4 inches. The largest of this sibling would be the only one to integrate three photo sensors in the back. This triptych would be relatively similar to that of LG's recent V40 ThinQ, with a very bright main sensor, a wide-angle sensor for landscapes and a telephoto lens for zooming.
Another more recent leak about the Galaxy 10 is the chipset. She is relayed on Twitter by the Chinese leaker Ice Universe and is based on an offer of employment issued by Samsung in India. The profile of the candidate sought is that of an engineer specializing in the design of chipsets. And the workstation is integrated with a neural coprocessor development project similar to those found in Apple's A12 Bionic and, very soon, in the Kirin 980 of the Mate 20 Pro and Honor Magic 2, two terminals that will be Officials in the coming weeks.
Dedicated coprocessor
The Exynos 9810 Galaxy S9 is already equipped with tools related to artificial intelligence. However, his successor would benefit from a dedicated neural coprocessor. Which would obviously make all the difference to use. Because artificial intelligence tools (Bixby and the camera) would not be the only beneficiaries of such a component. The battery (big topic at Samsung since the Galaxy Note 7) and performance optimization are also affected, as indicated in the job posting.
The chipset should logically be the Exynos 9820, a component already spotted in the rumors last April , two months after the formalization of the Galaxy S9 and the Exynos 9810. It was also the same leaker that evoked for the first time this component. It was then said that the Galaxy S10 could be the first smartphone of the Korean brand to ship a 5G modem, since the first networks will open their doors in the coming months and it will take mobile to accompany the arrival of dedicated packages.
