A unit dedicated to the AI in the processor of the Samsung Galaxy S10?

Samsung is working on its next generation of flagship. Improvements should be numerous, including at the processor level. It could embark a unit dedicated to artificial intelligence.

Samsung has not yet confirmed the name of the processor of its next flagship but if the naming convention is respected, it's a safe bet that it is called Exynos 9820. This chip should make its appearance with the Galaxy S10 soon the beginning of next year and then with the Galaxy Note 10. According to a recent report, this new chip could benefit from a unit dedicated to artificial intelligence.

A chip dedicated to artificial intelligence in the Samsung Galaxy S10?

The LinkedIn profile of a former Samsung employee mentions a second generation design mission of NPU (neural processing unit) for the South Korean giant. The specifications of this chip are not known at the moment but it reinforces the idea that the Exynos 9820 will benefit from a neural processing unit for artificial intelligence and machine learning.
The Huawei Kirin 980 processor already has one. No doubt this will become the norm in the chips of future flagships. It would not be surprising to see it arrive in this second generation of Samsung NPU.

The standard in future high-end smartphones

The Qualcomm equivalent of the Exynos 9820 should also include an NPU. Samsung did not use its first-generation NPU in the Exynos 9810, the Galaxy S9 and Note 9 processor, but it could do so for the Galaxy S10 which is expected for the beginning of next year.
